I have a great interest in studying the pathogenesis and mechanisms
of chemosensory impairment related to various human diseases
at both cellular and molecular levels. My specific interests
include 1) the role
of various inflammatory molecules in olfactory loss in
patients with chronic nasal diseases, and 2) the role
of inflammation in radiotherapy-induced
taste loss in patients of head-neck cancers, with the
major goal to identify new approaches to
prevent or treat disease-related human chemosensory
impairment. Many techniques are used, including tissue
culture, cytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, and gene
expression.
