My background
is in cardiology. My recent work has been focused on
understanding the alterations in ionic conductances
and gene expression in cardiac myocytes,
associated with myocardial infarction. I am extending
my interests to cellular neurophysiology, studying the
vertebrate olfactory pathway as a model system.
My research is applying patch clamp and optical
methods to investigate voltage and calcium signaling
in neurons of the olfactory bulb. The goal is to
understand how these signals regulate synaptic transmission
during odor information processing.
