My current research interests are the genetics of taste
and ingestive behavior, including the preferences
for saltiness and calcium. The goal of the research is to identify
and characterize genes
functionally related to taste behavior. To achieve this, the whole genome scan is being conducted
based on phenotypic variation and genetic polymorphism
among mouse inbred strains. The candidate genes are identified using bioinformatic
and gene
expression approaches and examined by transgenic or knock
out mice.
