My research is focused on how taste and olfactory receptor cells recognize and respond to chemical stimuli, as well as how this information is ultimately used by animals. Electrophysiological, biophysical and molecular biological techniques are being used to identify and characterize the membrane receptors and ion channels that mediate chemosensory responses in several species including sea lampreys, mice and humans.
