The annual Kerry-Manheimer Award recognizes the career contributions of an outstanding researcher in the chemosensory sciences. The Award is presented at the annual Kerry-Manheimer Dinner, which is attended by Monell’s scientists and their guests.
The Manheimer family initiated the annual Dinner in 1976 when Stephen Manheimer approached Monell’s founder, Morley Kare, to ask how his family could support Monell’s endeavors in a way that would be directly relevant to the Center’s scientists—and so a tradition was born.
The Manheimer Lectureship Award was instituted to recognize the achievements of an individual who has significantly advanced chemosensory science. Selected by Monell’s faculty, the Award honoree spends the day meeting with researchers, then delivers a scientific lecture at the Center in the late afternoon. The day culminates with the annual Dinner, followed by the Award presentation and a short address to the general audience.
The Manheimer family sold their business in 2005 to Kerry Group, which continues to proudly support this annual event.
