Completed
in April 2006, the Science of the Senses Campaign exceeded
its goal, raising $11.2 million in gifts from individuals, corporations,

New Fourth Floor Molecular Biology
Laboratory
Expansion
Updates
Development and renovation of the Monell Center as a result of
the Science of the Senses Campaign is an ongoing multi-step
process.
- Phase One of
the project was completed in April 2005, with renovation of
10,000 square feet to create a spacious and modern Molecular
Biology Research Wing.
- Phase Two,
the final phase of the project, will combine new space
with renovation of the current third floor to create a redesigned,
greatly expanded Human Chemosensory Research Wing. Upon
completion
of this final phase of the expansion in the fall of 2007,
Monell will have nearly tripled its laboratory facilities
for studies
in human sensory perception.
- Monell now has brought on board five outstanding scientists, Johannes
Reisert,
Paul Wise, Bruce Kimball, Johan
Lundström, and Kai
Zhao,
and continues its search for exceptional researchers to join
its interdisciplinary team.
