Research Summary
My research at Monell is focused on taste genetics, with an ultimate goal of elucidating specific genes related to taste behavior. This is a two stage process where initial candidate genes are identified through a combination of mouse phenotyping, selective breeding, and genetic mapping. Once identified, candidate genes can then be characterized using molecular and knockout/transgenic strategies.
