Kunio Yamazaki honored by JASTS
Kunio Yamazaki, Ph.D., is the first recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Japanese Association for the Study of Taste and Smell (JASTS).
Robert Margolskee Appointed Associate Director of Monell Center
Member Robert F. Margolskee, M.D., Ph.D., a world-renowned expert on the molecular mechanisms of taste, has been named Associate Director of the Monell Center. Margolskee succeeds Joseph Brand, Ph.D., who is retiring after 20 years as Associate Director and almost 40 years on the Monell faculty.
Inaugural Meyerson Lecture
The Inaugural Martin Meyerson Lecture will be held on Monday, October 25, at 3:45 p.m. in the Woodlands Ballroom at the Hilton Inn at Penn. Established by Margy Meyerson to honor her late husband, a charter member of Monell’s Board of Directors and long-time Chair, the Lectureship will bring eminent academic speackers to Monell.
To commemorate this series, Dr. Matthew Meyerson, son of Martin and Margy, will deliver the first talk: Genomic Studies of Cancer and Other Human Diseases. Dr. Meyerson, a distinguished cancer researcher at the Dana-Faber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School, is the winner of the 2009 Paul Marks Prize in Cancer Research.
Sensory Branding Forum
Despite the popularity of sensory branding, there is often little understanding of why and how our five senses serve to amplify and communicate the brand promise, enhance brand recognition and recall, and influence consumer perception.
A one-day meeting, to be held October 29, 2010 in Philadelphia, will bring together academic experts whose research encompasses an investigation of sensory influences on branding along with experts from several companies with marketplace experience utilizing the senses in marketing strategy.
