Monell’s Core Center for the Chemical Senses

Monell’s NIH/NIDCD funded Core Center for the Chemical Senses, headed by Dr. Robert Margolskee, includes four scientific Research Cores that bring together major equipment, techniques, and personnel, making them readily available to all Monell scientists, and also to external researchers who are working within the NIDCD’s mission statement.

Each of the Cores has a separate area of specialization: The Histology Core, The Genotyping Core, The Phenotyping Core, and the Chemosensory Receptor Signaling Core. Follow the links to the left to learn more about the equipment and services provided by each Core and their expert staff.

The Core Center also hosts monthly training seminars on topics relevant to research in the chemical senses. Past seminars have covered topics ranging from Responsible Conduct of Research to Basic Principles of Indirect Calorimetry. For information on upcoming seminars, please contact Core Coordinator Holly Carria

  • The Histology and Cellular Localization Core
  • The Genotyping and DNA/RNA Analysis Core
  • The Behavioral and Physiological Phenotyping Core
  • The Chemosensory Receptor Signaling Core (Pending)
