Apprenticeship Program runs 8-10 weeks, between June and September

Before the first day of employment, each apprentice will meet with the Personnel Administrator and complete a pre-participation survey to gather background data, develop baseline information on knowledge and practices, and document their expectations for their training experiences. Each student needs to call the Human Resources Department at (267-519-4731) to schedule this orientation appointment. This must be done at least one week BEFORE your first day of summer employment. Failure to do so may delay your start date in the program.

Throughout the summer, in addition to research training, students will participate in enrichment workshops, lectures and possibly a field trip. We anticipate that not only will our program develop the technical skills of the students and reinforce their interest in science as a career, but it will also, perhaps more importantly, develop the student’s self esteem and confidence.

On the last day of employment (or each year if the student works at the Center for longer periods), each apprentice will again meet with the Personnel Administrator to complete a post-participation survey aimed at evaluating the various parts of the training program and determining the extent to which expectations were, in fact, met.
