We are pleased to announce the establishment of the Kunio Yamazaki Distinguished Lectureship which will bring eminent speakers to Monell whose research interests and areas of expertise were central to Dr. Yamazaki’s academic career, which focused on seminal work on odortypes, the genetically-determined body odors that distinguish one individual of a species from another. Dr. Yamazaki published over 100 papers, mainly in high-impact scientific journals, on genes of the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) and how these genes influence odortype and behavior.
We have obtained an anonymous lead gift of $25,000 towards our goal of raising a minimum of $100,000 so that this Lectureship can honor our colleague for many years into the future. We expect to welcome the first Kunio Yamazaki Distinguished Lecturer to Monell in 2014.
