Research Summary

My research involves understanding the mechanisms of adaptation in olfactory sensory neurons to an odorous stimulus and the factors involved in homeostatic regeneration of the olfactory epithelium. I will be studying the first step of olfactory perception in order to investigate the pathophysiology of olfactory dysfunction in the periphery. I am using electrophysiological as well as cell biological approaches to address these questions.
